On October 25, the “Cross-Strait University Presidents’ Forum and Science and Technology Symposium”, hosted by Liaocheng University and co-organized by National Taiwan Ocean University, was grandly held at the Liaocheng Shunhe Bodun Hotel. Zhang Zhaoming,vice president of our school and member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, was invited to participate, and relevant personnel from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office (Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office)also attended the forum.
On the morning of the 25th, the opening ceremony of the forum was grandly held. Liu Yuan, director of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Shandong, Sun Aijun, secretary of the Liaocheng Municipal Party Committee, Dai Longcheng, deputy director of the Education Department of Shandong, Ma Chunlin, secretary of the Party Committee of Liaocheng University, and Zhang Qingfeng, president of National Taiwan Ocean University attended the opening ceremony, and delivered speeches. Then, Fan Yuejin,the president of Shandong Higher Education Association, Wang Zhaofeng,the president of Liaocheng University, and Wei Zushang, the vice president of Kun Shan University of Technology, and other presidents of universities respectively made keynote speeches on the connotative development of the university, the talent training system, civic education, and the cooperation between industry, university, the content of the speech is wonderful and sharp, andthe audience burst into thunderous applause.
The forum lasted for three days and a total of 32 universities from both sides of the Strait participated. The forum started with the theme of“Exploring the Ideas and Experiences of Cross-Straits Higher Education Construction, Deepening Cross-Straits Higher Education Exchanges and Cooperation, and Promoting the Prosperity and Development of Cross-Straits Higher Education”. The presidents and representatives of cross-strait universities gave 15 keynote speeches covering the development of connotative development,the development of featured innovative, the construction of talent training system, the construction of“new agricultural sciences”, and general education, and many other key areas for running schools. The forum atmosphere was festive, resonated and sparked thinking andinspiration.
During the forum, President Zhang Zhaoming of our schooland Lin Yongren, vice president of Taiwan Tatung University, conducted in-depth communication on scientific research cooperation and teacher-student exchange and cooperation between our two sides. They also held detailed discussions with the Minister of the Chinese Culture University of Taiwan on the implementation plan for joint teacher training between the twosides. It has deepened the communication and exchanges between our school and the friendly and cooperative universities in Taiwan, expanded new areas of cooperation, and promoted the friendly cooperation between our school and universities in Taiwan.
It is reported that the Cross-Strait University Presidents’ Forum was first held in 2002, and is held annually by universities on both sides of the Strait in turn. The forum addresses the challenges faced by higher education, cross-strait cooperation and development, and university governance, which has effectively promoted cross-strait university exchanges and cooperation, and has become an important brand of high-level, large-scale, and influential cross-strait exchanges and cooperation.
