On November 16th, the 13th International Contest of innovAtioN(China) Final was held by the Hohai University in Nanjing, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Education's Innovative Methods Teaching Guidance Sub-Committee, the International iCAN Alliance and the Global Chinese Society of Micro and Nano Molecular Systems. The students of the Engineering Innovation Society and the Youth Innovation Research Society of the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering of our university performed well in the competition, and wonone national second prize, two third prizes, and one iCAN entrepreneurial star.

With the strong support of school leaders and professional teachers from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the instructors Zhao Zhizheng and Wang Shihui led the engineering innovation team to go through the arduous learning preparations in the summer and won three provincial first prizes, seven second provincial prizes and 10 third prizesin provincial competitions. In the13th International Contest of innovAtioN(China) Final, Qiao Dazhuang,the 2017^th student from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering,won the national second prize with the work of “Protection of Walking”, Wang Zhuangzhuang, 2016^th, and Xu Xianle, 2018^th,won the national third prize with their work namely the “Fully Automatic Minimized Membrane Machine” and “Bicycle Automatic Transmission”, Liao Xijie, a 2015 graduate of the Engineering Innovation Society, founded Shandong Gongchuang Information Technology Co., Ltd. and won the honorary title of “iCAN Venture Star” in the competition.

Sinceits establishment in November 2017, the Engineering Innovation Community of the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering has used the professional laboratory as a platform, combined with the construction requirements of “new engineering” education, and committed to cultivating students into high-end talents who not only have a complete knowledge system and can continue their studies, but also have a certain engineering innovation ability, suitable for enterprise development, and identify with corporate culture and applied talents. Its achievements in the past two years have been remarkable. In June 2019, it won the prize of Shandong Universities Outstanding Science and Technology Association.
