On November 23, the 4th National University Students Financial Innovation Contest National Finals (Undergraduate Group) was held in Shanghai.3 students of the 2017 Financial Engineering of the School of Economics and Management won the first prize in the “Internet Finance Innovation and Operation Management” item, another 3 students won the third prize in the “Smart Bank Innovation Service” item, andanother 3 won the third prize in the “Insurance Maker Core Business” item.6 teachers were awarded the title of Outstanding Instructor.

The National University Students Financial Innovation Contest has been held since 2016. This contest is jointly sponsored by China Construction Bank University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. The Inclusive Finance Professional Committee of the Asian Finance Association serves as the business guidance unit, it is co-organized by theS hanghai International Banking College of Finance of the SHUFE, Shanghai Institute of Finance Innovation of the CCB University, Shanghai Branch of CCB, CCB Financial Technology Co., Ltd., Suzhou University of Finance and Technology, CCB University, Grameen China.

The contest was launched around the three themes of “Bank and Insurance Wealth Management Integrated Business”, “Internet Finance Innovation and Operation Management”, and “New Financial Product Innovation and Creative Design”, which attracted 101 universities and vocational colleges from more than 20 provinces and cities across the country, nearly a thousand teachers and students participated, including Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai Lixin University of Finance and Accounting, Jiangsu University, Hebei University, Hebei University of Economics and Trade, Shandong University of Technology, Shandong University of Management, and Jiangxi Agricultural University.

By participating in the competition, students majoring in Finance are familiar with industry practices and have a positive meaning for their future career planning. The awards of the competition also motivated them, making them realize that as long as they give, they will gain something and enhance theirconfidence of further studies in the future. The School of Economics and Management has long adhered to the path of characteristic specialty construction and discipline construction, constantly explored and practiced a talent training model adapted to social and economic development. Based onthe professional laboratories, it actively organized students to participate in university students science and technology competitions, which effectively promoted the improvement of students’ theoretical knowledge, practical application ability and comprehensive quality.
