On the morning of July 15th, the inaugural meeting of Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University Non-Party Intellectuals Association and Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University Western Returned Scholars Association (Overseas-educated Scholars Association)(Hereinafter referred to as“Associations”) was successfully held. Ding Xibin, Secretary of the Party Committee, Zhang Yeshang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Vice President Zhang Zhaoming attended the meeting. Members of the two associations and staff of the United Front Work Department of the CPC attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Yeshang.

The meeting approved the constitution of the Associations, and elected the first presidents,vice president,secretary-general and director of the two associations. The Association of Non-Party Intellectuals is a united front, fellowship, and non-governmental social organization formed voluntarily by the school’s non-party intellectuals, which is a carrier for the work of non-party intellectuals, the home of non-party intellectuals. The Western Returned Scholars Association (Overseas-educated Scholars Association) is a united front group composed voluntarily by the returning intellectuals as the main body, with mass,high intellectual, and social characters.

On behalf of the school party committee, Ding Xibin expressed his warm congratulations on the establishment of the Associations. In his speech, he emphasized that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has held a series of important meetings, promulgated a series of important documents, made a series of major deployments for united front work, scientifically answered a series of major theoretical and practical questions of the united front, and formed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on strengthening and improving the work of the united front. In particular, General Secretary Xi Jinping, focusing on the long-term development of the cause of the united front, has made important statements and made clear demands for the construction of a general united front work pattern. The establishment of the Associations of our school not only conforms to the spirit of the central and provincial party committees, but also meets the requirements of the school's recent and future development. He put forward four requirements for the future work of the two associations. First, we must effectively play the role of education and guidance to continuously improve the ideological and political quality of the members; second, we must give full play to their unique advantages, actively serve the school and the society;third, we should highlight the role of bridge ties, and do an excellent job in friendship services; third, we must highlight the bridge of the association The role of a bond is to effectively do a good job of networking services; fourth, we must continue to strengthen our own construction, effectively improve the level of business work, and continue to expand the membership team.

The first president of the Associations said on behalf of all members that in the future, under the strong leadership of the school party committee, the banner of patriotism must be held high to closely unite the vast number of non-party intellectuals returnees studying abroad in our school, focusing on the overall development of the school, using their own professional advantages and social resources, strengthening multi-party contacts, exchanges and cooperation, and making positive contributions to building the school into a high-level applied university with distinctive characteristics.
