On the morning of January 8, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council held the 2018 National Science and Technology Awards Conference in the Great Hall of the People. Party leaders and state leaders including Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Wang Huning, and Han Zheng attended the conference and presented awards to the winning representatives.
The “Complete Research and Clinical Application of Uveitis Disease and Syndrome Diagnosis and Treatment System Construction” project by Professor Bi Hongsheng, Dean of the School of Ophthalmology and Optometry, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Professor Yang Zhenning, Vice President ofSDAEU as the second person,won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress. The award is a historic breakthrough in thefield of our university and a major achievement of solid progress in scientific and technological innovation since the third School Party Congress.
A total of 278 projects andseven science and technology experts were selected in the 2018 National Science and Technology Award. Among them, there aretwo National Highest Science and Technology Awards, Liu Yongtan and Qian Qihu respectively; 38 National Natural Science Awards; 67 National Technology Invention Awards; 173 National Science and Technology Progress Awards;five foreign experts of the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
In this National Science and Technology Award, a total of 24 projects in Shandong have won prizes. Among them, Shandong Normal University, Shandong Agricultural University, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qingdao University of Technology, Shandong Agriculture and EngineeringUniversity have won the award.
Since the thirdSchool PartyCongress, the school has actively served the rural rejuvenation strategy and major projects for the conversion of old and new kinetic energy. It has introduced a series of science and technology awards and support policies, and implemented“Three Excellent Projects” (ExcellentSubjects, ExcellentMajors, ExcellentCourses) as the main construction content, established Qilu Rural Rejuvenation Research Institute, Agricultural and Forestry Big Data Engineering Technology Center, Agricultural Internet of Things Innovation Research Institute and other research institutions, and established the Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University Doctoral Fund and Young Teacher Research Fund. A series of effective measures have optimized the scientific research environment, improved the innovation platform, created an innovation team, improved the scientific research conditions, and helped our school to successively host one major national science and technology project,four national natural science fund projects,one major scientific and technological special project in Shandong, wonthree provincial engineering technology centers,two key laboratories in Shandong universities. In 2017 and 2018, our school's vertical research funding has doubled for two consecutive years, and scientific and technological innovation has entered the fast track of vigorous development. Winning the National Science and Technology Award this time has an important role in promoting the popularity and influence of our university and promoting the development of ourschool’s scientific and technological innovation to a higher level.
